Small bomb strikes French tax office in southern city, causing minor damage

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

French officials say an explosive device detonated outside a tax office in a southern city, causing minor damage to the building.

Finance Minister Pierre Moscovici and budget minister Bernard Cazeneuve condemned Wednesday's attack in Aix-en-Provence and said they are closely following the ongoing police investigation into the attack. According to French news reports, "FLNP" graffiti was found on the building, the name of a little known Provencal independence movement.

Last year, FLNP pamphlets and graffiti were found near the sites of several small detonations or unexploded devices outside banks and real estate agencies in the region, according to reports.
