Senegal police question ex-president's son

The son of Senegal's ex-president has been questioned by police about his management of state resources during his father's 12 years in office.

Senegalese derisively called Karim Wade the "Minister of the Sky and of the Earth" after his father, Abdoulaye Wade, handed him a "super ministry" with responsibility for international relations, development, infrastructure and air transport.

Allegations of corruption have long swirled around the younger Wade. He refused to answer questions from reporters as he left the police station after two hours of questioning Tuesday.

State prosecutors have begun investigating allies of Abdoulaye Wade, who left office earlier this year.

Besides Karim Wade, police have interrogated the former minister of the interior as well as two chief executives of state-owned companies.
