Sect blamed for killing 2 Indian men in Nigeria

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

An official says suspected members of a radical Islamist sect have killed two Indian businessmen after attacking their shop in a besieged city in Nigeria's northeast.

Army spokesman Lt. Col Sagir Musa said one other Indian national was injured in the Wednesday morning attack by suspected Boko Haram members.

However, a hospital source said three Indians were injured. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not allowed to speak to press.

Boko Haram, which seeks the strict implementation of Shariah across Nigeria, rarely targets foreigners.

It is held responsible for more than 650 deaths this year alone according to an Associated Press count.
