Rain, wind in the United Arab Emirates, rough waves in Gulf as seasons begin to change

Published November 12, 2015

Scattered rain and strong winds are hitting the United Arab Emirates as the seasons begin to change.

The Emirates' National Center of Meteorology and Seismology said the unsettled weather Thursday likely would extend into Friday. By late Thursday morning, it said the temperature at Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, stood at a cool 17.2 degrees Celsius (63 degrees Fahrenheit).

Sporadic rain fell up and down the Emirates' coastline Thursday morning. The meteorology center warned the expected strong winds might carry sand from the desert, reducing visibility.

Meteorologists also warned of rough waves in the greater Gulf.
