Police have identified the victim whose body parts have been found scattered in different locations around Toronto.

Peel Region Insp. George Koekkoek said Tuesday the victim was Guang Hua Liu, 41, a single mother of three who owned a now-defunct spa.

Her head, foot and two hands were discovered in a river west of Toronto last week. Over the weekend, her two calves, a thigh and an arm were found in east Toronto.

Koekkoek says all the body parts have been forensically linked to Liu, a Canadian citizen of Chinese descent.

The discoveries received extra attention following the case of porn actor Luka Magnotta, who is accused of dismembering a Chinese student and mailing his body parts to political parties and a school. Police ruled out any connection.
