Police arrest woman for infanticide; 3 men for abuse

Police in Bosnia say they have arrested a woman suspected of killing babies born to her mentally disabled daughter. Three men who allegedly fathered the babies were also arrested.

Tuesday's statement from police in the northern town of Doboj only identified the suspects by their initials.

It said that one man abused the girl in 2010, another in 2012 and the third in 2014. Each time, the girl got pregnant and her mother helped her deliver the babies. The girl's mother killed the first two children immediately after delivery and threw the bodies into bushes near their home. The third baby was killed by the daughter.

The four suspects were handed over to the prosecutor. Media reported the daughter was hospitalized.
