Pakistan court rejects Mumbai attacks probe result

A Pakistani defense lawyer says that a court trying suspects accused of masterminding the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai has decided that the findings of a commission that visited India to gather evidence cannot be used in the case.

Riaz Akram Cheema says the court found that the report by the eight-member commission has no legal value because the commission did not cross-examine four witnesses in India.

The court is trying seven suspects, including an alleged commander from the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is blamed for the 2008 attacks that killed 166 people.

The Pakistani commission that went to India in March included defense lawyers and prosecutors.

But Cheema says India did not allow them to cross-examine key witnesses, including the only attacker who survived.
