A light rail train has derailed in Hong Kong's northern suburbs, injuring dozens of passengers.

Police say 62 people were hurt, four seriously, in Friday's accident. They were all sent to hospitals. There was no word on the cause.

Passengers told local media that the train was moving quite fast and going around a bend at the time of the accident.

The incident occurred on a public holiday, when there were likely more passengers than usual.

After the accident, one carriage leaned off the tracks and a set of wheels appeared to be torn off.

Hong Kong's light rail system covers 68 stops over 36 kilometers (22 miles) in the city's northern New Territories.

Accidents are rare on the Asian financial center's modern and extensive transportation network.
