Jordan's military court says it has found six men guilty of shooting two Jordanian soldiers manning the border with Syria and sentenced them to jail.

The court says the six are all Jordanians affiliated with the banned Salafi Jihadi movement. The prosecutions' indictment says they attempted to illegally infiltrate into neighboring Syria last September to join the fighting there.

It says the four, armed with machineguns, shot and seriously wounded two Jordanian border patrol officers on Sept. 25 who had detected them near a border fence.

Monday, the court sentenced each of the four to 10 years in jail. The fifth was handed down five, while the last was given one year in jail.
