Mexican authorities have arrested a middle school janitor in a city on the Mexico-Texas border after finding a stockpile of weapons and drugs inside the school.
Tamaulipas state education secretary Diodoro Guerra Rodriguez calls it an "atypical" case. He said Wednesday that education officials are waiting for authorities to specify charges against the man arrested Monday night in Reynosa.
The employee allegedly had three rifles and 1,000 bullets in the same area where he stored his tools.
Federal education official Juan Leonardo Sanchez Cuellar says it was a serious incident, but notes that the janitor was hired by students' parents and not by the state or school system.
