Jamaican dancehall deejay faces lottery scam charges

A Jamaican dancehall deejay has been charged in a multimillion-dollar lottery scam.

An attorney for Tommy Lee Sparta said Friday that the musician and four others have been charged and that no court date has been set. Police said they found lists of names and addresses of U.S. citizens at a house where the men were arrested.

The musician's real name is Leroy Russell and he lives in Montego Bay, which police say is the headquarters for the lottery scam.

Jamaican swindlers target mostly elderly Americans and inform them they've won millions in an international lottery but that they first need to send money to cover taxes. Victims who send money usually are repeatedly harassed.
