Israel demands world powers punish Iran for missile tests

Published March 13, 2016

Associated Press

Israel is calling on world powers to punish Iran for its recent test-firing of ballistic missiles.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel is directing its demand to the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany — the countries that signed the deal lifting sanctions on Iran in exchange for Tehran curbing its nuclear program.

Netanyahu says Iran violated U.N. resolutions with the missile tests, and that world powers had pledged to prevent Iran from such violations. Iran has denied its tests violated any resolutions.

Netanyahu said at the start of his Cabinet meeting Sunday it would be "important as a test of the powers' determination to enforce the nuclear deal with Iran, and we of course expect their responses."
