Iran disses Saudi after kingdom executes Iranians

Iran has decided not to invite Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah to a summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran.

State TV said on Thursday that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's decision followed the recent execution of a group of Iranian nationals convicted of drug trafficking in the kingdom.

The report says an Iranian official canceled his trip to Saudi Arabia during which he was to hand over the invitation. The decision could affect plans by other Arab and Muslim countries to attend the summit in late August.

Iran this week condemned Saudi over the executions, saying the Iranians didn't receive a fair trial five years ago. It warned the case would have "legal and political consequences."

Shiite-majority Iran and Sunni-majority Saudi Arabia have a longstanding rivalry.
