In radio interview, Colombian taxi driver laments fatal stabbing of DEA agent

A taxi driver jailed in the stabbing death of a U.S. drug agent in Colombia has tearfully confessed in a radio interview, saying the American fought back with his hands after an attempt to subdue him with a stun gun.

Driver Edgar Bello said in the interview Tuesday from a Bogota prison that neither he nor the other five men arrested in the June 20 killing of DEA agent James "Terry" Watson realized he was a foreigner.

Police say they were trying to take Watson on a "millionaire's ride," in which criminals force victims to remove cash from ATMs.

Bello apologized to the slain 43-year-old agent's family.

The six men have been indicted in the U.S. on murder charges. Bello said he is afraid he'll be killed if extradited.
