Husband Shoots Wife While Trying To Kill Pig

TULA, Russia -- A Russian man faces two years in jail for accidentally shooting dead his wife as the couple attempted to slaughter a pig, RIA Novosti reported Thursday.

The 60-year-old was loading a homemade firearm to kill the animal when it inadvertently went off.

The blast struck his wife, killing her instantly, according to authorities in Russia's Tula region, 120 miles south of Moscow.

The husband faces charges of negligent homicide and a possible jail sentence over the apparent accident, the state-owned news agency said.
