Honduran authorities seize 42 properties linked to purported drug-trafficking family

Honduran authorities say they have seized 42 properties that belong to an alleged drug-trafficking family with links to Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel.

Prosecutor spokesman Carlos Vallecillo says 200 police officers, soldiers and investigators simultaneously raided the properties in the provinces of Copan and Cortes, both on the border with Guatemala and along drug trafficking routes.

Vallecillo said Monday the properties belong to four siblings — Digna, Deisy, Luis and Miguel Valle. He says prosecutors have evidence the properties were bought with drug trafficking money.

Digna Valle awaits trial in Miami, where she was arrested in July and accused of shipping U.S.-bound cocaine from Colombia through Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.

Vallecillo says the properties include five farms, a hotel, the offices of a cattle ranching company, stores and several houses.
