Germany's friendly with the Netherlands going ahead as scheduled in Hannover on Tuesday

Published November 15, 2015

Associated Press

Germany's friendly game against the Netherlands is to go ahead as scheduled in Hannover on Tuesday despite security concerns following the Paris attacks.

German football federation caretaker president Reinhard Rauball says "the message is clear: We will not be intimidated by terror" and that the decision to proceed with the game is a sign of "solidarity with the victims and the entire French people."

The German team, which played France in a friendly in Paris on Friday, is set to gather on Monday.

Players were given time off after spending Friday night at the Stade de France because of the terror attacks. They travelled to Charles de Gaulle airport and were flown back to Frankfurt aboard a specially chartered flight on Saturday morning.
