BERLIN (AP) — A German teenager has been convicted of 47 counts of attempted murder for attacking his fellow high school students with an ax, knives and Molotov cocktails.

News agency DAPD reports that the 19-year-old, identified only as Georg R. under German privacy laws, was sentenced Thursday by an Ansbach court to nine years in youth detention and ordered to undergo psychiatric care for the September 2009 attack.

Fifteen students and teachers were seriously injured, but nobody was killed in the attack, which was stopped by police.

During his trial the teenager admitted to the charges against him and told the court in a written statement that he did not see his fellow students as human beings and that he felt his own life was no longer worth living.
