Ex-employee at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence sues over alleged abuse

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

A former employee at the official residence of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has filed a lawsuit alleging he was abused by the Israeli leader's wife, Sara.

Netanyahu's office has rejected the claims as "outrageous."

The lawsuit by Menny Neftali, a former member of the housekeeping staff, says he was subjected to abusive language and ethnic insults by Sara Netanyahu. Among his claims, he alleges she woke him at 3 a.m. to chastise him for buying the wrong kind of milk. In another case, he says she threw a vase of day-old flowers on the floor, scolding him that they were not fresh enough.

Neftali is seeking about $280,000 in damages in Israeli Labor court.

It is the latest scandal to hit the Netanyahus, who have been accused of extravagant spending.
