Canadian, 17, drowns following Puerto Rico wedding

Published November 20, 2014

Associated Press

Authorities in Puerto Rico have found the body of a 17-year-old Canadian who drowned after attending a wedding in the U.S. territory.

The search-and-rescue director of the Emergency Management Agency says officials found the body floating in front of a San Juan hotel. Nino Correa said in a phone interview Tuesday that the teen had gone into the ocean with a 9-year-old cousin when a strong current carried them out to sea.

A family friend identified the teen as Justice Langley.

Correa said an uncle saved the younger boy with help of a tourist but that Langley disappeared.

Correa said the beach where they went swimming Sunday in front of the San Juan Marriott Resort has signs warning that swimming there is unsafe.
