Published November 17, 2014

Associated Press

The Canadian government says one of its citizens visiting Afghanistan as a tourist is missing.

In a statement Sunday, Emmanuelle Lamoureux, deputy director of media relations for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, says that Canadian officials are working with Afghan authorities to assist the family to secure the safe release of their citizen.

The Taliban says in a statement to the media that it is holding a Canadian whom they seized in the city of Gazni, southwest of the capital.
