Polish police say seven people — including four Swedes and an American teenager — have been hospitalized after a Swedish bus drove into a ditch in southwestern Poland.

Slawomir Masojc, spokesman for the police in Legnica, told The Associated Press on Friday that two people — the American and a driver — were taken by helicopter to a hospital in the city of Wroclaw. Five others were taken by ambulances to a hospital in Legnica.

Sweden says four of the injured were Swedes aged 15 to 20.

Masojc said the accident happened before 9 a.m. The bus, carrying 26 people — mostly teenagers, two drivers and the group's leader — drove off the road and fell on its side into a grassy ditch near the town of Legnickie Pole.
