Brazil's president says any US spying on Petrobras has economic motives, not terrorism

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff is again demanding answers from the U.S. government over reports that the National Security Agency's spy program is targeting Brazil.

The latest report broadcast by the Globo TV network and based on leaked documents from Edward Snowden says the NSA has targeted Brazil's state-run oil firm Petrobras.

Rousseff says in a Monday statement that if proven true, that shows the NSA program isn't just about combatting terrorism, but also about economic spying meant to give the U.S. a business advantage.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Luiz Alberto Figueiredo is traveling to the U.S. now from Europe. He's expected to meet later this week with President Barack Obama's national security adviser, Susan Rice, to hear explanations of the NSA program.
