Bendtner charged with improper conduct for underpants stunt at Euro 2012

LVIV, Ukraine --

European soccer's governing body said its control and disciplinary body will "deal with [Bendtner's] case" Monday, a day after the final round of Group B fixtures.

Denmark, which sits third in the group after a win and a loss, takes on Germany on Sunday while Portugal faces the Netherlands with all four teams still able to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Arsenal striker Bendtner, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, already was reprimanded by the Danish soccer association, which is sponsored by a rival bookmaker, for the stunt against Portugal on Thursday.

Officials from the national team confirmed his choice of underwear will be inspected before kickoff Sunday.

The forward, though, pleaded innocent to having broken any European rules.

The 24-year-old lifted his shirt and tugged down his shorts to clearly expose bookmaker Paddy Power's name after scoring his second goal in the 80th minute of Thursday's game in Lviv, Ukraine.

The Irish bookmaker responded with congratulatory tweets for the equalizer, even before Portugal grabbed a late winner in the 3-2 victory, before later claiming credit for the "lucky" underwear briefly keeping Denmark in the game.

But the promotional underpants fell foul of tournament rules that ban "ambush" marketing.

UEFA regulations stipulate no advertising should appear on players' kit or cleats during the competition in Poland and Ukraine.
