After 14 years, Chinese man wanted for corruption is returned from US in 'Sky Net' operation

Authorities in China say a most-wanted fugitive suspected of graft and bribery has been brought back from the U.S. after he fled there in 2001.

The Ministry of Supervision said Friday that Yang Jinjun — the businessman brother of a former deputy mayor in the eastern city of Wenzhou — is the first person to be repatriated to China from the U.S. since the Sky Net operation targeting 100 fugitives was launched in April.

As part of its anti-corruption campaign, China has sought to repatriate businessmen and government officials accused of economic crimes.

There is no extradition treaty between Beijing and Washington. U.S. officials typically demand solid evidence from China on suspects who have absconded to the U.S.
