Afghan official: US drone crashes in mountains near Kabul; no casualties

An Afghan official says that an American drone has crashed the in mountains south of the capital, Kabul.

The Interior Ministry official says the unmanned aircraft crashed in a remote mountainous area of Kabul province shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The official spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to talk to the media on the topic.

He says no casualties were caused by the drone crash.

An official at NATO's Resolute Support mission, who also declined to be named, says the crash is being investigated.
