6.1 magnitude earthquake strikes central Chile, shakes capital Santiago

A strong 6.1 earthquake struck Chile's central region but authorities said no injuries or damage were reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake's epicenter was 34 miles (54 kilometers) south-west of San Antonio and struck Wednesday at 4:36 p.m. local time. The quake shook Chile's capital of Santiago, causing office buildings to sway.
