5 US service members allegedly assaulted

A prosecutor says two Romanian men are being investigated for allegedly assaulting five U.S. service members at a nightclub in Bucharest.

Ion Sandu David, the owner of the Stars Night club, and Razvan Marius Mosteanu are accused of doing that when their victims claimed they were overcharged and refused to pay their bills.

Prosecutor Florin Popa said Wednesday that two of the service members were beaten and left with skull injuries and broken bones on the night of Jan. 19, and that the other three were locked in a room of the club on Jan. 16 and threatened before being freed.

U.S. European Command said the matter was being investigated and that it would not comment or identify the service members.
