2 Canadian accountants among 21 killed in Afghan explosion

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

The president of a Canadian financial services firm says two of its employees were among those killed in a Taliban attack on a popular restaurant in the Afghan capital.

Pierre Samson, the head of Samson and Associates, said Saturday that he two men, one from Quebec and the other from Ontario, were doing auditing work for the Canadian International Development Agency.

He says they were having dinner when the attack took place on Friday.

Samson didn't identify the men because his firm is still trying to get in touch with family members.

Afghan police say 21 police, including 13 foreigners, were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the restaurant, while two gunmen snuck in through the back door and opened fire.
