10 injured in southwest Spanish town as fairground train overturns

Published December 20, 2015

Associated Press

Spain's emergency service says six adults and four children were injured when a small, fairground train overturned in a southwestern town.

The accident took place late Saturday in Arroyo de San Servan, and although four of the injured, including two children, were allowed to go home after receiving first aid by ambulance crews, six others were hospitalized in the nearby city of Merida, according to emergency service authorities.

A 5-year-old boy with an ankle injury and a 9-year-old with a wrist problem were admitted, while three women — including one with a broken arm — and a man were also kept for treatment.

Most of Spain has been enjoying unseasonably warm weather over the weekend, with some regions exceeding 25 C (77 F).
