'Zombies' invade University of Michigan campus

Published January 13, 2015

Zombies have invaded the University of Michigan campus.

Well, sort of.

The "zombie apocalypse" held Tuesday in Ann Arbor was designed to get School of Public Health students thinking about disaster response.

The exercise was modeled after a curriculum designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It included students dressing up as the undead.

Second-year graduate student TaNisha Roby says seeing all the "crazy posters around" the SPH building helped sway her to get "zombified" and participate in Tuesday's event.

She says it was a meaningful exercise because public health departments are crucial in preparing people for disasters.

Following the 90-minute exercise, the zombies adjourned to a hallway and performed a "flash mob"-style dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
