Wife of British Diplomat Plunges to Death in New York City

NEW YORK -- The wife of a British diplomat has died in an apparent suicide plunge from the roof of her New York City apartment building.
Police say 46-year-old Catherine Hurd jumped from the roof of her building on East 84th Street in Manhattan early Saturday.
She was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Hurd's husband, Thomas, is a member of the British Mission to the United Nations.
The New York Post reports that neighbors described Catherine Hurd as a happy mother of five.
She was set to return home to England next week when her husband's mission ended.
