The stock market is opening higher following its worst day in three weeks.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 37 points, or 0.2 percent, to 18,078 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time Wednesday.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index edged up three points, or 0.1 percent, to 2,107. The Nasdaq composite climbed nine points, or 0.2 percent, to 5,041.
Oil fell 42 cents to $57.61 a barrel in New York.
Bond prices fell, pushing up the yield on the 10-year Treasury note to 2.14 percent.
