Two 15-month-old twin girls died Thursday after they were found in a hot car in Carrollton, Ga., officials said.

Police told Fox 5 the twins were found in a car parked in an apartment complex.

The twin girls were placed in a small pool by neighbors to try to cool them down before rescue crews arrived at the scene, police told Fox 5.

Both were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to police.

The twin's mother was in Atlanta at the time of the incident, WSB-TV reported.
