The Latest: Investigators back at burned Phoenix home

The Latest on a Phoenix shooting and house fire that left five members of a family dead (all times local):

10:40 a.m.

Police are back investigating a burned Phoenix home where a 26-year-old man fatally shot four family members and set the house on fire before getting killed by authorities.

Sgt. Trent Crump said Wednesday that damage from the fire will make the task difficult for homicide detectives, who collected evidence until late Tuesday.

Authorities say Alex Arthur Buckner opened fire in the home Tuesday morning, killing his parents and his two sisters, ages 18 and 6. Police and firefighters braved flames and bullets as they tried to rescue the victims.

A police officer later shot and killed Buckner.

Crump says the possibility of toxic fumes from burned items delayed investigators' entry into the home and that fire damage and debris will make work difficult, such as finding shell casings.
