The Latest: Defense argument in Chinatown trial

The latest on the trial of man facing murder and racketeering charges in an organized crime case in San Francisco's Chinatown (all times local):

10 a.m.

A defense attorney for a man charged with murder in an organized crime investigation centered in San Francisco's Chinatown has started the second part of his closing argument.

J. Tony Serra is expected to wrap up his argument Tuesday morning. The defendant, Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow, is charged with racketeering and murder. Serra has called the evidence flimsy and based on secret recordings and shady testimony from Chow's former colleagues.

Prosecutors have said Chow took over a Chinese fraternal group with criminal ties after having its previous leader killed and ran an enterprise that engaged in drug trafficking, money laundering and the sale of stolen cigarettes and alcohol. He also is accused in a second killing.

The case should go to jurors for deliberations Tuesday.
