Even the most passionate and dedicated business professionals need a break from time to time. You work too hard and too much at one thing and you're sure to burn out. That's why Bar Rescue host Jon Taffer suggests balancing your time between three things:

  1. Working in your business
  2. Working on your business
  3. Getting away from your business

Seventy percent of your time should be working in your business, Taffer says. That's the day-to-day stuff like overseeing operations and managing the books, among other tasks. Twenty percent of your time should be spent working on your business. In other words, "making marketing better, operations better, products better, relationships better," Taffer says.

The other 10 percent of your time should be spent getting away from your business. You've heard it before: Unplug, relax and recharge. Come back refreshed and re-energized.
