Musician Thomas Dolby played a deranged scientist in the video for his 1980s hit, "She Blinded Me With Science." Now he is a university professor at a school known best for its medical science and research.

The 55-year-old Englishman started teaching last week at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Not bad for guy whose formal education ended at age 16.

In his class called "Sound on Film," he is guiding 12 music and film students through the process of creating soundtracks for movies. Dolby scored a number of Hollywood films after releasing four albums in the 1980s. He released a short film last year.

Dolby also founded a software company in the 1990s that enabled cellphones to produce complex ring tones.
