Two Georgia police officers were recovering from non-life threatening injuries Tuesday after being shot during a traffic stop.
Authorities said two Lavonia police officers attempted to pull over a vehicle near Interstate 85. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said after the officers got the car to stop near a Zaxby’s restaurant, the driver pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and fired upon the officers.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, investigators believe the officers didn’t return fire before the gunman fled on foot.
Authorities arrested Khari Anthony Dashaun Gordon, 22, of Greenville, S.C., hours after the manhunt.
Gordon was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault on a police officer and criminal attempt to commit murder. He was also charged with a single count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.
Police said Gordon had a long rap sheet, but didn’t give any details.
