Published February 27, 2016

Kentucky State Police are investigating after Shepherdsville officers shot a suspect Friday evening.

According to an account by state police, officers responded at about 5 p.m. to a complaint of a suicidal man armed with a gun and standing in a field in Elizabethtown, about 45 miles south of Louisville. The officers tried negotiating with Christopher Lindsey, but after several minutes, Lindsey pointed his weapon at them. The officers fired, striking Lindsey in the abdomen.

He was transported to the University Of Louisville hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition Saturday.

Lindsey is charged with six counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer.

State police did not immediately release information about the race of the officers or the suspect, nor did they release the officers' names.
