Southwest worker treated after smoke odor on jet in El Paso

A Southwest Airlines flight from San Antonio to El Paso safely landed after the smell of smoke was detected in the cabin and a flight attendant reported feeling sick.

Southwest spokesman Brian Parrish said Tuesday that the captain declared an emergency and landed the Boeing 737 at El Paso International Airport on Monday. Parrish says there was no fire. Firefighters did a heat test, found nothing and cleared the jet to taxi to the gate.

As for the flight attendant who became ill, The El Paso Times (http://bit.ly/2bgLorb ) reports the person asked to be taken to a hospital. Parrish says the crew member was treated and released. Details on who the flight attendant was and what may have made the person sick weren't released.
