Shooting reported near White House in robbery

Washington, D.C., police say shots were fired just blocks from the White House after an armed robbery attempt.

Police say it happened around dawn Friday near Lafayette Square. They say three suspects, including at least one with a gun, approached two people and tried to rob them.

D.C. police spokesman Araz Alali says the victims began following the suspects in their car and that one suspect fired shots. No one was injured.

Alali says no one was immediately in custody
