Sheriff: Deputy shoots, kills man after security guard reports kidnapping west of Atlanta

Published May 03, 2016

Associated Press

A Georgia sheriff says a deputy shot and killed a man in a mobile home park in Douglasville, about 20 miles west of Atlanta.

Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://on-ajc.com/1NJew5x) that a security guard told officers he'd been kidnapped and held hostage for 45 minutes.

Miller said several deputies responded to the neighborhood, and found three men inside a white, four-door sedan.

The sheriff said that as deputies were trying to take the men in the car into custody, one of them pointed a gun at a deputy, who shot and killed him. Names of the deputies and the man who was killed weren't released.

Miller said two suspects, whose names weren't released, were arrested.
