Across America: School bus, truck collide in California Video

Authorities say 16 children and the bus driver were injured when a school bus carrying 40 children was toppled in a crash.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Joaquin Zubieta says two of the children have "serious but non-life threatening" injuries. They were taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center after Thursday's accident.

Ten others were also transported to hospitals. The remaining four were treated and released at the scene.

The accident happened when a U-Haul truck collided with the school bus, leaving it on its side.

The children were being taken home from Galileo Academy in Victorville when the collision happened shortly after 2 p.m.

Two people in the U-Haul truck were not hurt.

An investigation is under way.
