San Diego prison investigates inmate 'mannequin' video

Published December 12, 2016

Associated Press

Inmates at a Southern California prison are under investigation for taking part in a "mannequin challenge" video inside a prison dorm.

The one-minute video shows inmates in several frozen stances — one in the bathroom, others fighting and one holding a prohibited cellphone.

It had been viewed more than 100,000 times on YouTube by Tuesday.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokeswoman Terry Thornton says one inmate has been transferred from a dorm setting to an individual cell as part of an ongoing investigation.

Thornton says the video was taken in November inside the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego.

A video recently surfaced showing inmates in an Alabama prison in various frozen positions.
