Robbery? No, thanks. Clerk, customers refuse to be robbed

Published August 08, 2016

It seems the clerk and customers at a South Carolina tobacco store simply refused to be robbed.

Anderson County sheriff's Capt. Garland Major tells local news outlets a man entered the Tobacco Jungle shop Sunday evening, wielding a gun and demanding money. No one listened to the would-be robber and he left with nothing.

Major said the clerk wrestled with the man, who then turned his attention to store customers. They also refused to give him money.

Major said video footage showed the man wielding a "musket-style" handgun - something that appeared to be a cross between a pirate gun and a sawed-off shotgun. It wasn't immediately clear whether the gun was loaded.

Police say the man is thought to have driven off in a car parked near the store.
