Remains of 3 black Civil War veterans buried in Pennsylvania

Three African-American Civil War soldiers who served with units in Massachusetts were laid to rest with full honors in Pennsylvania after their remains spent more than 100 years in a backyard grave.

A 21-gun salute was sounded Wednesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

Cpl. William Anderson served with the 54th Massachusetts Infantry. Pvts. Greenberry Stanton and John Nelson were members of the 5th Massachusetts Cavalry. They were buried in unmarked graves in Penn Township when their headstones were either moved or lost.

A folded flag was presented to one of Stanton's descendants.
