Prosecutor: No charges in North Carolina traffic stop death

A North Carolina prosecutor says no charges will be filed against two sheriff's deputies in the death of a man killed in front of his family.

Rockingham County District Attorney Craig Blitzer said Friday that the county deputies have been cleared after his review of a state investigation of the May 29 shooting.

Authorities have said the deputies followed Todd Brent Burroughs because they thought his vehicle looked suspicious. Deputies confronted the 38-year-old Stoneville man at his home and he was shot as he approached them with a police baton. The report said deputies could not subdue him with the baton, pepper spray or a stun gun.

A toxicology report later showed Burroughs' blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

The deputies are white. So was Burroughs.
