Prep school discloses more sexual misconduct allegations

Published September 26, 2017

Associated Press

A prestigious Massachusetts boarding school says an investigation found additional instances of alleged sexual abuse of students by former faculty members.

Phillips Academy's head of school wrote in an email to the school community Monday that the alleged misconduct was found by an independent law firm hired by the school.

Last year, the Andover school alleged that five former teachers engaged in sexual misconduct with students during the 1970s and 1980s.

Three of the alleged perpetrators were named last year. Another two were identified in Monday's report.

The latest report also said investigators determined there were another four cases of sexual misconduct, three involving former faculty members and one involving a student. The school did not release their identities.

This story has been corrected to show the school announced several more alleged sex abuse cases, not just two.
