Police: Vehicle fleeing officers hits another, killing 2

Published January 29, 2016

Associated Press

Authorities say a vehicle fleeing police in suburban Atlanta collided with another vehicle, killing two occupants.

Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said in a statement early Friday morning that the incident started as a pursuit by Johns Creek police that crossed into Gwinnett County.

Washington says the fleeing vehicle "failed to yield" to police late Thursday night and collided with a second vehicle as it approached an intersection on Peachtree Parkway. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were killed.

Washington says the driver of the fleeing car faces DUI, drug charges and vehicular homicide charges. The passenger faces drug and gun charges. Both were taken to a hospital. The extent of their injuries wasn't known.

No identities were released, and no further information was immediately available.
